Police officer dismissed for kidnapping, extortion of $3,000

The Rivers State Police Command has dismissed one Inspector Michael Odey from the force. Odey and his accomplices, Doubara Edonyabo and Talent Mungo, both assistant superintendents, had kidnapped and extorted $3,000 from a citizen in Abuja.

TheCornet had reported that a whistleblower Harrison Gwammishu blew the lid off the crime committed by the three police officers.

The Rivers command, in a statement on Wednesday, said that it decided to dismiss Odey after an orderly room trial.

Although, Odey’s accomplices were also recommended to dismissal, the command stated that the Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun had decided to review their cases.
