Fire rips through court, female undergraduate hostel

Two separate fires that occurred on Tuesday have reduced to rubble a registry located in the complex, in Ilorin, and the female hostel of the Yobe State University.

In the Ilorin incident, the fire, which started at about 7.25 a.m, consumed some case files and damaged some offices and court rooms. A surge was reported to have occurred when electricity supply was restored to the court complex.

Hassan Adekunle, head of media and publicity of the Kwara State Fire Service, stated that firemen battled the fire and  prevented “what could have been a catastrophic loss.”

Similarly, another fire several kilometres away had rendered female undergraduates of the Yobe State University without a hall of residence.

The cause of the blaze has not been ascertained.
