Fulani leader Wakil charged with murder, kidnapping
Isikilu Wakili, a Fulani leader, accused of kidnapping and murder of some natives of Igangan, Oyo State, has been charged. The police charged the septuagenarian Wakili with murder, conspiracy, kidnapping, and armed robbery. Charged alongside Wakili are Samaila, Aliyu Many and Abu, a 45 year old.
A magistrate court hearing the matter in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, ordered the suspects remand in a correctional facility.
TheCornetnewsreports that some members of the Oodua Peoples Congress, (OPC) had arrested Wakili in Igangan, and handed him to the police. The OPC said Wakili became too powerful and invincible for the police.
Following Wakili’s arrest, the Police in the state detained three members of the OPC, but were later released following an outcry.
The said OPC members then detained were Dauda Kazeem, Awodele Adedigba and Ramon Hassan.
