Davido, Burna Boy fail to win Grammy

Nigerian Afrobeats great, David Adeleke, otherwise known as Davido, has had his hope of winning the prestigious Grammy dashed.

The 2024 Grammy ceremony is holding at the Peacock Theater.

Davido had believed he would win in the ‘Best African Performance’ category with his surefire hit ‘Unavailable’ and ‘Best Global Music Performance’ for his track ‘Feel’.

A first-time Grammy nominee, Davido was also nominated in the  ‘Best Global Album’ for his latest album, ‘Timeless’.

The silver-spooned singer, however, lost the ‘Best African Music’ category to Tyla’s ‘Water’; and ‘Best Global Music Performance’ to ‘Pashto’ by Béla Fleck, Edgar Meyer & Zakir Hussain, featuring Rakesh Chaurasia. He also lost the ‘Best Global Album’ to Shakti’s ‘The Moment’.

Similarly, former Grammy award winner Burna Boy failed to repeat the feat at the lastest edition of the awards ceremony.

Burna Boy

Burna Boy was nominated in four categories — including ‘Best Melodic Rap’, ‘’Best Global Music Album’, ‘Best Global Music Performance’ and ‘Best African Music Performance’ — but lost in all.

Shakti’s ‘The Moment’ won the ‘Best Global Album’ category while Lil Durk’s ‘All My Life’, featuring J Cole, clinched ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’.
