6 killed, others injured in Benue
Six persons are reportedly dead and some others injured in Benue state. Armed herders allegedly carried out the killing, which happened in Logo Local Government Area.
The assailants are said to have launched the attack at about 9pm on Wednesday.
On entering the communities, the assailants shot sporadically, killing the victims and injuring others.
The slain victims are identified as Ander John, Vihior Mtomga, Morgan Varem, Saaior Uyoosu, Aondoyima Tarbo and Peter Asondo.
The injured are Terngu Tyavkase Usue, Igbaule Valem and Chiater Tarbo (a. k. a Ajimmy).
A eyewitness alleged the assailants were armed Fulani herdsmen.
Lt Col Paul Hemba (retd.), a security adviser to the state governor, Samuel Ortom, confirmed the killing.
“It is true, the council chairman briefed me which I have relayed to the governor and the governor has directed that the deceased be buried while the injured ones be evacuated to the University Teaching hospital, Makurdi”, he said.
