FG promises to reward for reaching AfCON final

Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles soared into the sky in the gripping semi-final match with South Africa’s Bafana Bafana that ended 4-2 (penalty shootouts).

The Super Eagles didn’t quite flap their wings, allowing the Bafana Bafana to dominate the game, but their resilience finally paid off with an admirable win.

Vice President Kashim Shettima led the government team to the game and subsequently celebrated with the Super Eagles in the dressing room.

Nigeria will face host Cote D’Ivoire in the final of the football tournament.

Following their victory on Wednesday night, the Super Eagles said that the federal government had promised to “reward” the team.

Writing on its official X handle, the Super Eagles said: “The Federal Govt has promised to reward the Super Eagles for their commitment and dedication in reaching the Final of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

“Vice President Kashim Shettima told the players and their officials in the dressing room, following their hard-fought victory over South Africa in the semi finals on Wednesday, that the govt and people of Nigeria are proud of their accomplishment.”

The VP was in company with Governors Dapo Abiodun (Ogun) and Duoye Diri (Bayelsa), Minister for Youth, Dr. Jamila Ibrahim as well as Oil mogul Wale Tinubu, FIFA Council Member Amaju Pinnick and NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau.
