Power: FG sets up committee to tackle gas supply shortage

The Federal Government has set up an inter-ministerial committee to tackle gas supply shortage responsible for low power generation. The committee is spearheaded by the minister of state for petroleum resources, Ekperikpe Ekpo and the minister of power, Adebayo Adelabu.

The committee’s duty is to suggest the “ways and means of achieving a steady and sustainable gas supply to the gas power generating plants for domestic and industrial needs of Nigerians.”

The committee said the challenges for the shortage indebtedness, vandalization of gas infrastructures in the Niger Delta Region, domestic pricing of gas in dollars among others.

Speaking, Adelabu stressed that “absolutely nothing can be done in Nigeria without stable power.”

Nigerians have seen low power supply to their homes and business premises in recent times.
