Six traders docked for assaulting Nollywood actor Lizzy Anjorin

Six traders have been arraigned before the Tinubu Chief Magistrate’s Court, in Lagos, for allegedly assaulting a Yoruba Nollywood actor Lizzy Anjorin.

Two of the defendants, however, were arraigned in absentia as the police claimed they were at large.

Those docked are Suru Olawale, Edu Shakirat, and Fausat Mohammed. Others are Kafayat Ahmed and Opere Simiat Morenike.

TheCornet had reported about a video showing Anjorin and some traders, in which the actor was falsely accused of paying for a purchase with a fake electronic transfer.

During their arraignment, the prosecutor told the court that the defendants assaulted and caused bodily injury to Anjorin.

He added that their action contravened sections 411 and 413; 168(d) and 170(b) of Lagos State. The defendants denied and pleaded “not guilty” to the charges.

Following, their counsels, Ade Oshodi and Ademola Olabiyi asked for their bail.

While not opposed to the request, the prosecutor Sola Samuel told the court that imposing some terms on the bail would compel the defendants to attend proceeding.

Having listened to the counsels, Magistrate A.A Paul admitted each of the defendants to bail, in the sum of N200 000.00 and with one surety worth the sum.

Equally, the sureties must be residents of, and will show evidence they pay tax to the Lagos State government.

The court ruled that the defendants should be kept in correctional Center until they fulfill their bail terms.
