BRT driver accused of murder remanded

Nice Andrew Omininikoron, the suspected murderer of a young woman Oluwabamise Ayankole is to be remanded in prison, pending advice from the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP.

Ayankole had boarded an ill-fated BRT bus, driven by the suspect, in the Lekki area of Lagos State. Her corpse was later discovered along the bridge on Ebute Ero, also in Lagos.

Chief Magistrate O. A Salau of the Yaba Magistrate Court, before whom the suspect was arraigned on Friday, gave the order for his remand. Salau declined to take the defendant’s plea, rather he ruled that the court would await the DPP’s directive.

Omininikoron is believed to have conspired with others yet unknown to murder Ayankole in cold blood.

He is facing charges bordering on conspiracy, murder, and rape of the victim.

The charge was read to him but his plea was not taken by the court.

The magistrate adjourned the case to April 11 for DPP advice.
