Why Buhari snubbed Oyetola’s rally – PDP

President Muhammadu Buhari deliberately snubbed the campaign rally held in Osogbo for Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s re-election, says the opposition.

The All Progressive Congress (APC) Tuesday held a star-studded rally, attended by its national chairman; presidential candidate and his running mate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima. Also present were state governors including those of Lagos, Ekiti, Ondo, Kaduna among others.

However, the opposition alleges a plan by the ruling party to rig the election.

Akindele Adekunle, the caretaker chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun state made the claim in his statement.

Adekunle alleged “Buhari’s absence at the rally was a signal of his disapproval of any attempt to rig the governorship election as directed by the APC National Chairman, Adamu Abdullahi.”

The opposition, whose candidate Senator Ademola Adeleke is making his second attempt for the coveted office, also urged “law enforcement agencies to resist unlawful orders and protect the democratic process.”

“It is now left to security chiefs to know that aiding and abetting rigging are not only criminal but also carry heavy repercussions afterwards.

“We particularly condemn Governor Oyetola for his assertion that he would not hand over power even before the election was held. We find the statement as anti-democracy and a declaration of war against the democratic process.”
