Traditional ruler kidnapped

Suspected assailants have kidnapped HRM Maurice Edet, traditional ruler of the Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River.

The kidnappers seized the ceremonial leader from his residence at Asin ufot, in Ayamba Ikot Akriba community.

A report has that the kidnappers killed Edet’s aide during the operation.

When sought for a comment, Irene Ugbo, spokesperson for the Nigeria Police, Cross Rivers State Command, said the law enforcement lacked details of the incident.

According to Vanguard, in its own report, Akpabuyo town is a hotbed for criminality.
