Tinubu scores another victory at presidential elections tribunal

The Presidential Petition Election Court (PREPEC) has dismissed the Action Peoples Party’s petition against the victory of president-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

During the Tuesday hearing, the APP informed the five-man petitions panel that it would be withdrawing its petition. The decision contradicts APP’s stance at the inaugural pre-hearing where it urged Tinubu to concede defeat based on its weighty evidence showing he rigged the election.

Following the opposition party’s volte-face, the tribunal chairman, Justice Haruna Tsammani dismissed the petition.

INEC had declared Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential poll but the dust the declaration stirred has yet to settle. Two prominent opposition candidates, namely Peter Obi and Abubakar Atiku have disputed the election results and are separately claiming to have won the  urging the vote.
