Terrorists burn properties of prominent citizens in Imo

Some terrorists, addressed in Nigerian parlance as ‘gunmen’, have razed houses belonging to prominent citizens in Amagu Ihube community, Imo state.

The affected persons are Emeka Okoronkwo, a former commissioner of youth and sports in the state; Nnamdi Obiaraeri, an ex-commissioner for information, youths, and sports; and Emeka Ngwu, a retired director of the Department of Security Service (DSS). The arsonists reportedly razed two other houses.

An elderly woman living in Ngwu’s house burned to death, as she could not escape the inferno.

Henry Okoye, who speaks for the state police command, said the law enforcements are investigating the attacks and would arrest the suspects.

The community has seen some terrorist attacks in recent times.
