Man hides inside ceiling as gunmen abducts wife, children
A man reportedly hid inside the ceiling of his apartment while gunmen whisked his family away in an attack that happened in Katsina state.
The man, identified as Usman Datti, live at Shema Quarters, in Katsina state, from where the gunmen kidnapped his two of housewives and three children.
After leaving his residence, the gunmen broke into Datti’s neighbour apartment after which they kidnapped his wife and little baby.
A source who preferred to be anonymous said Datti and his neighbour were at home when the attacks occurred. One of the men hid in the ceiling while the other jumped over the fence to safety, leaving their wives and children behind.
“It was raining at the time and one of our neighbours called me that some gunmen were trying to forcefully open our neighbour’s house, one Abdulaziz Lawal, and there was nothing we could do because they were shooting.
“Eventually, they broke into the house, kidnapped a housewife and her little baby, another housewife and her younger sister. Then at the household of Usman Datti Yarima, they kidnapped two wives and three children, making a total of nine in the quarters,” he said.
The criminals were said to have invaded the community in large number, at about 11:30pm on Sunday. They were said to have for about 30 minutes unhindered. Security operatives however arrived after the criminals had left the area.
Gambo Isah, spokesperson for the Katsina police command, confirmed the incident.
He said the police were on the trail of the abductors and would rescue the victims safely.
He added that security had been beefed up in the area.
