11-year-old Lagos girl serially raped by two teenagers cries out

A teenage rape victim, 11, reportedly ran away from home, as she could no longer cope with the increasing sexual demands by two teenagers with whom she serially had sexual intercourse.

The abusers are two 17 years old boys living in the same house as the victim.

The victim, whose mother had died but reside with her father in the Shomolu area of Lagos state, sought help from a soldier at the Army Sports Camp located in the neighbourhood.

After listening to her horrendous story, the soldier led her to her superior who, in turn, alerted a human rights group– the Advocates for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network (ACVPN).

The group decided to lodge a report with the police at the Alade Police Station and the two suspects–Joshua and Salami–were arrested.

An official of the ACVPN, Toyin Okanlawon, alleged the parents of the suspects pleaded for the matter to be withdrawn from the police but declined their request.

TheCornet reports that the Lagos state has continued to lead the fight against sexual violence and abuse through its Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) and has secured some convictions.

The government has equally gone a notch farther by publishing details of convicted sexual offenders and publicly shaming them while doing time for their crime.
