Housewife lands in the soup for killing husband

The police in Ogun State have arrested one Ramota Bello, a housewife who allegedly poured hot water on her husband and, thereby causing his death.

The couple reportedly had an altercation on February 12, 2020, and smitten with rage, Ramota boiled hot water and emptied it on her husband.

The victim, Saliu Bello, was rushed to the hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries. Hearing of Saliu’s death, Ramota ran away.

The police succeeded in arresting Ramota last Monday, nine days after she fled her husband’s house.

DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, spokesperson for the Ogun Police Command, revealed the incident.

“The victim was quickly rushed to a hospital for treatment, but he gave up the ghost on February 13, 2022, while receiving treatment.

“The suspect, having realised the gravity of the crime, took to flight since then.

“The case was not initially reported to the police until February 21, 2022, when the suspect was sighted in her hideout.

“Upon the report, the DPO, Lafenwa division, CSP Kayode Shadrach, detailed his detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.”
