Jimoh Ibrahim wins APC ticket amid claims of imposition

Businessman Jimoh Ibrahim has emerged the winner of the Ondo south senatorial ticket amid allegation of imposition by aggrieved co-contestants.

Ibrahim polled 190 votes to defeat the first runner-up Mathew Oyerinmade, who got 92 votes. Boye Oyewunmi polled 23 votes while Olusola Iji and Morayo Lebi secured nine votes each, and Muyiwa Akinfolarin, nil.

Ibrahim attributed his victory to Akeredolu, describing him as “an hegemon of politics” in the state.

TheCornet reports that prior to the Saturday primaries, five contestants for the parliamentary seat had accused the Ondo state chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Ade Adetimehin, of scheming to favour Ibrahim over them. Adetimehin however denied the allegation.

A report had also claimed that the state governor Rotimi Akeredolu cherry-picked Ibrahim among others and that he directed delegates to vote him.

The aggrieved aspirants include Morayo Lebi, Mayowa Akinfolarin, Ambassador Sola Iji, Boye Oyewunmi and Matthew Oyerinmade.
