‘No bail for you’, Judge to Abba Kyari

Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja has, again, declined a bail application sought by Abba Kyari, a suspended police officer facing drug charges.

The trial judge said reasons Kyari gave for his fresh bail request was mentioned in similar applications he made previously.

The judge, as a result, ordered the commencement of trial on October 19, 20, and 21, 2022.

Kyari is facing trial for his involvement in drug pushing and concealment of evidence (seized drugs). He has sought bail twice previously, but denied. Kyari claims criminals, including insurgents he arrested and prosecuted, might attempt his life.
