NDLEA probes Abba Kyari’s multi-million naira houses, plaza
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) is probing six residential properties and a shopping plaza belonging to under trial former commander of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team, DCP Abba Kyari.
The agency had on Monday, March 21, secured the approval of the ministry of justice to confiscate the assets.
According to PUNCH, the approval was secured by the federal government through the ministry of justice under Attorney-General, Abubakar Malami.
Kyari’s shopping plaza, a two-storey building, located along the Giwa Barracks Road in Maiduguri, comprises about 100 stores.
The other properties are said to be in the Maiduguri New Government Residential Area.
Confirming the decision of the AGF, an unnamed officer of the justice ministry said: “The AGF has endorsed the request by the NDLEA seeking approval for the confiscation of the assets of Abba Kyari, Ubua, and the other police officers involved in drug dealing.
“With the approval, the drug agency can now go after their properties, such as real estate, bank accounts, cash, vehicles, stocks, bonds and anything of monetary value.”
