NDLEA discovers cannabis hidden in baby foods, raids Lagos drug den

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, says its operatives had discovered 3.4 kilograms of cannabis hidden in baby foods and powdered milk.

One Ewelike Chibuike Cyril, a frieght forwarder, who presented the consignment for export to the UAE, was arrested.

The agency also said it apprehended another freight agent Joseph Obiji for processing 6.3kg of cannabis concealed in sound systems (speakers) for export to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

Equally, one Mbanu Ifeanyi Andrew was nabbed at the ASPAMDA market, Trade Fair complex, Ojo area of Lagos,for drug trafficking.

The operatives also raided a drug den at Akala area, in Mushin, Lagos. Two women were among the 15 drug dealers apprehended in the area.

According to the NDLEA, it recovered from the drug dealers 1,400kgs of cannabis sativa and other illicit substances such as heroin, methamphetamine, and codeine syrup.

At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, NDLEA operatives reportedly intercepted parcels of cocaine concealed in different parts of a travel bag. One Nwadinobi Charles Uchemadu, a Brazil returnee, was arrested.

Another raid at the Idumota business district of Lagos Island is said to have yielded large seizures of illicit drugs such as tramadol, diazepam, rohypnol and codeine syrup.

In another incident, Dembele Ousmane was arrested for being in possession of 32,400 capsules of tramadol 225mg concealed in factory packed buckets of custard.

The suspect was attempting to smuggle the drugs to Mali on boat.
