Ife celebrity Ramon Adedoyin to die by hanging as court rules in murder case

An Osun high court has sentenced a society high up, Chief Ramon Adedoyin, to death by hanging. The trial judge, Adepele Ojo, found Adedoyin guilty of the murder of a former post-graduate student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Timothy Adegoke.

Adegoke, who had lodged in Adedoyin’s Hilton Honours Hotel in Ile-Ife, died on November 5, 2021 under mysterious circumstances. Adedoyin’s son and some staff of the hotel vacuum Adegoke’s corpse and dumped it in a bush. Police later recovered the mutilated corpse, which they subjected to an autopsy.

In the ruling, Justice Ojo said evidence before him showed Adedoyin murdered Adegoke. He rejected Adedoyin’s alibi that he was in Abuja before the incident took place. The trial judge equally said that Adedoyin’s refusal to give evidence consequently disfavoured him while suggesting he acquiesced to murdering the deceased.

Adedoyin is a ranking traditional chief in Ile-Ife and the owner of Oduduwa University and Oduduwa Polytechnic.
