Heroic residents resist gun attack, one killed

Some heroic youths in the Kwakwala community of Sokoto State have resisted a gun attack by suspected bandits on Sunday.

The brave youths reported exchanged gunfire with the said bandits, who numbered about ten.

One of the residents however lost his life in the process while four others sustained gunshot injuries.

Ahmad Rufai, spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, confirmed the attack.

Rufai said, “Based on the report at our disposal, the suspected bandits numbering about 10 armed with cutlass and Dane guns attacked a community behind the main campus of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto.

“The youths of the area resisted the attacks and in the process, the armed bandits shot one of the youths named Usman who died instantly.
