Gov. Adeleke denies instigating attack on man over certificate scandal
Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, has denied he instigated the attack on a citizen, Akin Adeyi. A report had claimed that thugs loyal to the governor demolished Adeyi’s shop, located in Osogbo, at 4:30am on Sunday.
In his claim, the Peoples Democratic Party chieftain Adeyi said he became a target for exposing Governor Adeleke’s certificate scandal.
“I was told that the Adelekes claimed that I am the cause of their problem now that the governor is facing certificate issues at the Tribunal, Adeyi said. Adeyi said he once alarmed the party through a petition about Adeleke’s certificate.
“This is the genesis of the problem that I had with them that made them pull down my business place,” Adeyi alleged.
Abioye Akinwale, who is an aide to Adeyi, said, “They came in company of thugs and men of Nigeria police.”
But, Governor Adeleke, through his chief press secretary Olawale Rasheed, denied the allegation.
“The insinuation is absolute fake,” Rasheed said on his principal’s behalf.
“Governor Adeleke is not a vindictive leader.
“His Excellency has since directed immediate investigation of the incident. The outcome will be communicated to the public,” Rasheed added.
