EFCC ‘probes’ Seyi Makinde’s Govt, ‘arrests’ accountant-general
The Economic Financial and Crime Commission, EFCC, has allegedly launched a probe into the handling of public funds by the Governor Seyi Makinde-led government of Oyo State.
According to Saharareporters, the anti-graft agency, on Monday, arrested Gafar Bello, the accountant-general of Oyo State for allegedly laundering N9billion. The agency is also said to be on the trail of a certain Michael Ayanniyi, who is said to be a director in the office of the state’s accountant-general.
TheCornet gathered the state government had authorised deduction from local government funds for electioneering purposes.
However, TheCornet could not independently verify the allegation.

The source said Bello was arrested on Friday when EFCC was alerted about a N9billion found in the account of a yet-to-be-identified politician, who was arrested along with the Accountant-General.
