Nigerian women protest inability to have sex at night

Some women have staged a protest in Rivers State over their inability to have sexual intercourse with their husbands at night.

The women stated that the heat they experience in the homes, due to inadequate power supply, tends to stop their husbands from engaging them in a romance.

Carrying placards with inscriptions, like ‘No Light, No Payment’, ‘The Heat is too much’, the protesters stormed the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED), located in the state capital.

Maria Ike, who was the protest leader, spoke about their challenge.

“We have decided to let the world know what we are passing through in the hands of PHED,” she said.

“The poor supply in our area is at zero level despite the fact that we pay monthly bills to PHED.

“We no longer have romance and conjugal relationship with our husbands because of so much heat due to power failure.

“Our businesses have collapsed because of power outage. This is really affecting our families,” she said.

In response to the protest, Livingstone Koko, spokesperson for the power distribution company, said that the poor power supply was a general problem in the country. He promised the company would improve its service.
