Rauf Aregbesola, the minister of interior, has lost an ally Idowu Korede.
The deceased had served as commissioner of environment in Osun State while Argebesola was governor. He was also part of Aregbesola’s political movement, which rivalled former governor Gboyega Oyetola and the Osun chapter of the All Progressives Congress.
Prior to his becoming a commissioner, the late Koredo was at a time the chairman of Ilesa East Local Government Area.
He is said to have suffered from a protracted ailment and only made few public appearances before his death.
Speaking on Korede’s death, Lowo Adebiyi, a former chairman of the APC in Osun described the deceased as ‘reliable and trustworthy’.
“He was one of the great leaders of our tendency. He was very courageous, honest and hardworking. He was somebody you can trust and very principled and he believed in the ideals of party hierarchy, equity and justice,” Adebiyi said, in a report by PUNCH.
