Wike’s supporters join Governor Fubara’s fold

Some supporters of the former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike, now minister, have warmed up to his successor Siminalaye Fubara.

The governor and his former political godfather have been at loggerheads.

In a post to social media, Governor Fubara announced he had received into his fold “former members of Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI) Coordinators Forum.”

The GDI, created by Wike while he was governor, is believed to have been set up as a formidable platform for winning state elections.

According to Fubara, the politicians were “in (the) Government House to pledge their support and loyalty to the Government of Rivers State and the Simplified Movement.”

He added, “We had fruitful interactions, and I assured them of the commitment of my administration to consolidate on our gains as a family, while working assiduously to fulfil our mandate to Rivers people.

“Leader of the team, and former Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Prince (Hon) Collins Onunwo, pledged the readiness of the former Coordinators and their numerous supporters to work in synergy with the Government to accelerate our NEW Vision agenda in line with the Renewed Hope mantra of Mr President.”
