Ododo trounces Ajaka, Melaye
Usman Ododo, the governorship candidate of the governing All Progressives Congress, has emerged the winner of Saturday, November 11 poll in Kogi state.
Ododo trounced his two major opponents, Muritala Ajaka and Dino Melaye, both of the Social Democratic Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) respectively.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ododo polled 446,237 votes to defeat the first runner-up 259, 052 votes and Melaye, who garnered 46,362 votes.
Others are Leke Bejide of the African Democratic Party, scoring 21,891 votes, and Adejo Okeme of the LP, with 567 votes.
INEC confirmed that some malpractices took place in 59 wards, promising to conduct fresh election in the affected places. Opposition candidates have rejected Ododo’s declared victory, citing the malpractices.
