Embattled politician Wale Adedayo reveals Nigeria Police involvement in ordeal

Embattled politician, Wale Adedayo, has revealed how men of the Nigeria Police Force provided special protection to councillors of the Ijebu East Local Government of Ogun State, to effect his removal from office. The councillors had alleged Adedayo misappropriated and diverted council funds, leading to his removal.

The accusation came on the heel of Adedayo’s disagreement with state Governor Dapo Abiodun, who he alleged had starved the council of its rightful allocation.

In his statement addressed to the leader of the council, Akin Faseyi, Adedayo said, “You and your six colleagues were brought to Ogbere from Abeokuta in a Toyota Civilian Coaster bus escorted by Policemen from the Government House pool.”

“You were perfidious to the extent that you did not inform your four remaining colleagues that the sitting would hold by 8am. Thank God for His mercies. We knew about that since yesterday and we knew an impeachment assignment had been given.”

However, the state government denied having a hand in Adedayo’s removal as council chairman.

His ordeal began with a letter he wrote to former governor and political leader, Olusegun Osoba in which he accused Governor Abiodun of slashing allocations due to local councils in the state.
