Senator in ‘sex toy’ scandal turns partyless ahead of poll

Senator Ishaku Abbo, who slapped a female attendant at a sex toys shop in 2019, is facing a challenge in his re-election bid.

An Adamawa high court on Tuesday ruled that Abbo was ineligible to contest under the banner of the All Progressives Congress.

The court held that Abbo’s expulsion from the APC for anti-party disqualifies him from benefitting from the party.

Trial judge, Mohammed Danladi, restrained the APC from recognizing the senator even though the electoral umpires had listed him for the next month’s poll.

The judge also said that Abbo showed disrespect to the court by failing to file a defense earlier than he did.
