Aisha Buhari named grand patron of APC women’s presidential campaign

Nigeria’s First Lady Aisha Buhari is the grand patron of the All Progressives Congress (APC) women’s campaign team, the party said on Saturday.

The team is named “Tinubu/Shettima Women Presidential Campaign Team” equally has the wives of the party’s presidential and vice presidential candidates Senator Remi and Nana Shettima chairman and co-chairman respectively

This is according to a statement issued by Rinsola Abiola, also appointed into the media and administrative committees of the campaign.

Asabe Vilita Bashir, a former member of the House of Representatives from Borno, is national coordinator, while Lauretta Onochie, a senior presidency aide, is the deputy coordinator.

For the North-West Zone, Dr Zainab Baugudu, wife of the Kebbi State governor, is the campaign coordinator. Mrs Falmata Zulum, the first lady of Borno State, is in charge of the Northeast, while Olufolake Abdulrazaq, the first lady of Kwara State, would coordinate North-Central campaign activities.

Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, wife of the Lagos State governor, will lead the South-West campaign, while  Chioma Ikeaka-Uzodinma, will lead that of the South-East. Linda Ayade, wife of the Cross River State governor, will spearhead the campaign activities in the South-South.

Florence Ajimobi,  the widow of the former governor of Oyo State and Zainab Ibrahim, the APC Deputy National Women Leader, among others, have been asked to coordinate activities in states not controlled by the APC.

Hon. Wahab Alawiye-King, the chairman of Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, is the head of both the administrative, and strategic planning committees.

Also named in the operations and logistics committees is Senator Fatima Raji-Rasaki, while Sarafa Modele-Yusuf, a seasoned media practitioner, is to head the Media and Strategic Communications committee.

The Finance and Special Duties committee is to be headed by the former deputy governor of Lagos state and Senior Special Assistant to the President, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, while the Diaspora Mobilisation Committee is to be chaired by Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

The Creative and Entertainment committee also has the seasoned screen diva, Joke Silva, as its chairman, and includes other members such as Toyin Adegbola, Esther Wright, Rose Odika and Hadiza Kabara, among others.

The Directorate of Contact and Mobilisation has 944 members including Hon. Tolulope Akande Sadipe, Hon. Rekiya Yahaya, Zainab Ikaz-Kassim, among others.

The list also contains volunteers including Zahra Buhari, Hafsa Umar Shinkafi, Ahmed Indimi, Mairo Bulama Idris, Aisha Ahmed Jika and others.
