Police make more arrests following traditional ruler’s murder

The Nigeria Police have said that more people have been arrested in connection to the murder of the traditional ruler of Amanze Obowo Autonomous Community of Imo State, Eze Basil Njoku.

Two suspects are already standing trial for the crime, namely Jude Iheme and Chika Madukwe.

The police said the suspects killed Njoku on December 17, 2022, after collecting a ransom of N4m cash from his family.

The police stated in the charges that the suspects’ offence contravened Section 2(2) (f) of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022.

The suspects are also accused of concealing information that could help the police track others involved in the crime, another offence that contravenes Section 16 of the same Terrorism Act.
