Police give update on Lagos woman who killed herself

Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos police command, has said that a woman, Lilian Nwarache, took her own life due to her worsening health condition. Lilian suffered a protracted illness and sought healing in a church, located at the Iwaya area of the state. Seeing that her condition did not improve, Lilian downed a bottle of Insecticide.

Hundeyin said Lilian’s frustration led her action and her subsequent “frantic efforts to jump into the canal.”

He added, “She was prevented and rushed to the health centre Iwaya where she was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.

“Detectives were immediately sent to the scene. Photographs were taken, the insecticide plastic containing little content, her three passports and one Samsung phone were recovered in her small bag.”

“Her corpse has been removed and deposited at the Lagos Mainland Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

“Efforts are in progress to contact her family members and preliminary investigation is also in progress.”
