Supreme Court affirms Okowa’s pick Oborevwori PDP guber candidate

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has affirmed the candidacy of Sheriff Oborevwori as the rightful governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Justice Amina Augie, leading two other justices, ruled on the appeal filed by Oborevwori’s challenger David Edevbie.

Edevbie had accused Oborevwori of falsifying documents he presented to the PDP prior to his emergence as the winner of the party primary election. He had also claimed that the PDP flouted its own laws by allowing Oborevwori contest the party primary election.

However, Edevbie lost his case against Oborevwori at both the federal high court and the court of appeal.

Oborevwori, who is the speaker of the Delta state house of assembly, is the preferred candidate of Governor Patrick Okowa. Edevbie, on the other hand, is the choice of former governor James Ibori and in whose candidate he served as finance commissioner.
