Kano suffers Abba’s demolition as court freezes govt. deposits

Kano State Government is reportedly suffering the imposition of a freeze order by a federal high court.

The judgement has reportedly starved the government of funds needed to provide governance to citizens. Top officials including Governor Yussuf Abba are said to have shunned their offices.

In the bid to compel the compensation payment of N30 billion to victims of demolished properties, Justice I.E Ekwo, granted a garnishee order affecting 24 bank accounts belonging to the Kano State government.

In his judgement, Justice Ekwo asked the judgment creditors to serve the order on the state government. He also ordered the government to give its defence why the order and others being sought should not be granted.

He adjourned the hearing till 18 January 2024.
