Kanu’s lawyers seek divine intervention over detention appeal

Lawyers to Nnamdi Kanu, a Biafra separatist leader, are seeking divine intervention as the Supreme Court hears an appeal over his continued incarceration. An appeal court had struck out terrorism charges preferred by the federal government against Kanu. Dissatisfied, the government decided to file an appeal at the apex court.

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, a notable counsel in Kanu’s legal team, said they hoped on God to reveal the truth.

He tweeted, “The Supreme Court of Nigeria will this morning hear an Appeal over the continued illegal detention of our indefatigable client, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“We are very firm in our belief that the Almighty Chukwu Okike Abiama will take absolute control of today’s proceedings. His Grace will prevail in judgement over today’s outing at the Supreme Court.”

TheCornet reports that Kanu’s run-in with the government stemmed from his agitation for the bifurcation of the federation and ultimately the creation of a separate Biafra nation. He is the leader of the outlawed indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and its military wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
