A cult clash that took place at Mile 12 area of Lagos State at the weekend has left two people dead.

According to the Rapid Response Squad, a special anti-crime unit of the police, the latest clash involves rival cult gangs belonging to Agiliti and Oniyari streets in the area.

“RRS officers supported by their counterparts from Base 61 are firmly on ground at Mile 12 axis, involving Agiliti Street and Oniyanri Street, where cult gangs engaged themselves.

“Two members were killed while officers are fully mobilised to forestall further bloodshed,” the police tweeted.

TheCornet reports that Mile 12 has witnessed incessant violence, part of which was ethno-religious clashes.

Last April, a clash broke out, based on the claims that the Commander, Security Committee in Gengere Community, Alhaji Alidu Mohammed, allegedly blasphemed Prophet Mohammed.

The situation resulted in violence, during which hoodlums attacked the alleged blasphemer and razed his properties. Mohammed, who was stabbed, eventually succumbed to his injuries. The police, then, said they arrested 13 people involved in the mayhem.
