Lagos NURTW leaders arrested after deadly fracas
Police have arrested two leaders of the National Union of Road Transport Workers.
They are Mustapha Adekunle, a.k.a Sego; and, Adekunle Lawal, (Kunle Poly).
The Lagos Police Command, on Twitter, said it arrested Adekunle and Lawal at a stakeholders’ meeting of the National Union of Road Transport Workers.
Their arrest followed a deadly fracas at Idumota, on the Lagos Island, over motor park levy.
Four persons reportedly died, but the police statement confirmed only one casualty.
The police described the duo as “the two principal suspects in the constant clashes in Idumota and its environs.”
The statement added that the frequent clashes have “intermittently crippled commercial activities in the area”.
