Grim moment gunmen kidnapped Edo train passengers – Police

The police in Edo State has painted the grim moment unknown gunmen stormed the Tom Ikimi Train Station, Igueben Edo State, kidnapping 29 intending passengers and some of officials of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC).

The officials are Godwin Okpe, the train station’s manager and one Ikhayere, who is said to be the chief security officer of the terminus.

AP in its report quoted the Edo police authorities as saying that the kidnappers “shot sporadically into the air” before whisking their victims away.

The police operatives moreover assured “rescue operations are underway to find the victims and arrest the abductors.”

TheCornet learned that a hybrid rescue team comprising soldiers, police, and vigilantes are leading the rescue of the 31 victims.
