Father arrested for dousing daughter in hot water, police speak

The police from Mowe Division, in Ogun state, have arrested a man accused of dousing his daughter in hot water.

The unnamed man had the child, identified as Princess, with his estranged wife, Grace Ojile, who has since left him.

“(He poured) hot water on her body. If you see the back, it’s all burnt. He inflicted injury on her head last week, I just heard that. I’m with her at the hospital,” a Ojile reportedly said.

Report has that he often beat the victim at the slightest provocation and, sometimes, unprovoked. The mother, Ojile, testified to the constant physical abuse.

Princess’ brother, who had witnessed the incident, narrated what transpired. According to him, he and his sister informed their father they were hungry.

He responded by asking Princess to boil water, and he descended on her shortly after. When the water had come to boil, the said father allegedly emptied it on his daughter, leaving her body scathed.

The father’s reason is that his daughter is wayward and a truant.

Concerned neighbours reported the assault to the police, who apprehended the said father.

Afeniforo Folake, Divisional Police Officer at Mowe Police Station, confirmed the man’s arrest.

“The man overreacted. The girl has been discharged from the hospital and the case has been transferred to the state CID,” she said.
