EFCC extradites FbI wanted suspect who committed $3.5M fraud

Fatade Idowu Olamilekan, a wire fraud suspect, has been extradited to the United States to face prosecution.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in a statement, said the suspect had been on wanted list of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI.

The anti-graft body extradited the suspect on July 14, 2022.

Fatade is alleged to have stolen equipment, valued at Three Million, Five Hundred Thousand United State Dollars ($3.5M) from different cities in the US.

The EFCC said the FBI, through the US Legal Attache, notified it of Fatade’s alleged crime. He was also said to have impersonated different cities, state and academic institutions across the United States.

The statement adds that a grand jury in the Southern District of New York had previously indicted Fatade for offences of wire fraud, interstate transportation of stolen property and identity theft.
