Dozens arrested for cultism in Enugu

The police in Enugu state have arrested 26 persons for involving in cultism and gang wars that led to the death of no fewer than 14 persons in the past two weeks.

Those arrested in the statewide raid are reportedly members of the Supreme Vikings, and Black Axe confraternities.

Daniel Ndukwe, the spokesperson for the state police command, said the suspects, whose ages range between 18 and 40 years, have confessed to the crime.

The police said their preliminary investigations showed that “some members of Black Axe confraternity, on March 29, 2023, around 10.30pm, shot a member of Supreme Vikings confraternity in the arm at Emene, Enugu.”

The shooting led to a reprisal attack by the rival group, the police said.
