Blind suspect makes confession on involvement in drug trade

A visually impaired suspect, Aliyu Adebiyi, has confessed to hiding 234kgs of cannabis in his house at Owena Ijesha, in Ondo state.

According to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the 67-year-old Adebiyi is to be paid N6,000 per month and had already received three months payment upfront.

Another suspect, Haruna Abdullahi, 45, was caught with 2.2kga of cannabis and quantities of Diazepam and Exol at Garko town, in Kano State.

The anti-narcotics agency said it equally intercepted 126.95kgs of cocaine and skunk concealed in herbal tea packs and imported vehicles.

The consignment, as the NDLEA said, came from Brazil and Canada.

A Brazilian returnee, Eze Christian Ikenna, 42, was arrested for trafficking the illicit substances hidden in the herbal tea, while those discovered in the imported vehicles were discovered at a bonded warehouse in Lagos.
