Kidnappers demand N100m for Edo doctor’s release
Kidnappers have asked for N100 Million before releasing Tonnie Okoye, a medical doctor, kidnapped last weekend.
Okoye was reportedly kidnapped along the Benin-Asaba expressway enroute Auchi, in Etsako West LGA of the state.
He was returning from a meeting of the national executive council (NEC) of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).
An undisclosed family source allegedly informed the kidnappers made the demand when it contacted the family.
“Dr Tonnie Okoye was kidnapped along Benin-Asaba expressway this afternoon (Saturday) and the hoodlums are demanding N100 million ransom for his release,” said the family member.
The Edo State Police confirmed the incident in an alleged terse message sent by its spokesperson Bello Kotongs to a news organisation.
