20 fishermen killed in Nigerian military airstrike

No fewer than 20 fishermen were accidentally killed during an arial bombardment of Islamic jihadist camps in Nigeria’s northeast, a report has claimed.

AFP cited two security and local sources on the incident that occured early Sunday morning.

The Nigerian fighter jet had bombarded Kwatar Daban Masara in Lake Chad.

The area is a stronghold of IS-affiliated Islamic State West Africa Province, and also straddles Nigeria and neighbouring Niger, Chad and Cameroon.
