Wike shows Atiku supremacy with Dino’s loss in Kogi

Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike has seen his preferred candidate Tajudeen Yusuf trounce Dino Melaye to clinch the Peoples Democratic Party’s senatorial ticker for Kogi west.

Melaye, who was backed by presidential hopeful Atiku Abubakar, lost the primary election held on Tuesday.

Melaye, with 99 votes, lost to Yusuf, who recorded 163 votes in the re-run shadow election. Both politicians had tied in the previous primary election, scoring 88 votes each.

Reacting to his loss, Melaye said some persons he refused to name had joined forces to make him lose.

“The primary has been fought and won. I congratulate Hon. T.J YUSUF and thank all those who voted in the first and second ballot for me.

“The gang-up is unimaginable but l give God praise. God bless you all. SDM,” he said.
