2023: Atiku pushes forward as he meets PDP state chairmen

Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former vice president, has met with state chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in his latest round of consultations on his presidential bid.

The presidential hopeful said he met with the party leaders on Sunday night.

TheCornet could not ascertain as at time of this publication whether all the state chairmen of the opposition party, particularly those of the southern PDP-controlled states, attended the meeting.

The PDP controls Oyo, in the south-west; Abia, and Enugu, in the south-east; Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, and Akwa Ibom, in the south-south.

Last Sunday night’s meeting comes few days after Atiku met with senators and representatives belonging to the PDP.

Atiku had said “responses” from the senators during their meeting were “reassuring.”

Should Atiku secure the ticket of his party, which he boasted recently was his for taking, it would be the third time he would be standing in election as a presidential candidate.
