Portable trends on Twitter as police demand his surrender

Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, otherwise known as Portable, has hit topmost Twitter trend in Nigeria.

This comes as police in Ogun state asked him to surrender himself, after he led some people to beat up a man he accused of messaging his wife.

The one-hit wonder, whose climb to fame was his Zazoo track, is yet to do so as at the time of filing this report.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the spokesperson for the police in the state, said failure by the singer to submit himself would lead to his arrest.

Portable in a viral video directed his victim’s beating, which led to his sustaining bodily injury.

Oyeyemi said the “sad incident was alleged to have happened somewhere in Ogun State over the weekend”.

“Such barbaric act is very unbecoming of a decent human being or someone serving as a role model to the youths and that the earlier such sadistic tendencies are dealt with in accordance with the law of the land, the better before the youth begin to emulate such condemnable acts.

“The flagrant display of impunity by portable in the viral video is condemnable and if not checked, it will send a wrong signal to the youths who are looking up to him as a role model.

“Jungle justice has no place in our laws and whoever embarked on it must be made to feel the weight of the law, no matter the status of such person”.
