US dollar counterfeiters busted in Lagos

The National Drug Laws Enforcement Agency said it busted a syndicate specializing in the counterfeiting of U.S. dollar at the Lekki area of Lagos state on Thursday.

The raid, the agency said, was done in conjunction with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Three persons were arrested while counterfeited dollar bills worth $269,000 was recovered.

In another operation at a Cannabis farm, located in Opuje Forest, Edo state, the NDLEA said it discovered and consequently set ablaze some warehouses and tents where over 317,417kg of the psychoactive substance was kept.

Speaking on the raid, the spokesperson for NDLEA, Femi Babafemi said that operatives had to trek several kilometers to get to where the farm was.

On their return, Babafemi said youths set bonfires to prevent the operatives from leaving the area.
