Undergraduate commits ‘suicide’ due to poor grades

An undergraduate of the Kwara State University in Nigeria’s North-Central region has allegedly committed suicide due to her poor grades.

Punch claimed the student, Rashidat Shittu, consumed an insecticide, leading to her death.

She was also reportedly rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, where doctors certified her dead.

The deceased has been buried, according to Islamic rites, the report added.

The university management however said that it had no knowledge of the incident.

KWASU’s Director of University Relations, Dr Saeedat Aliyu, said in response to a media enquiry: “I am not yet aware of the information on the death of any of our students. But I will find out and get back to you as soon as those who should give the information confirm it.”
